Budoor Riyami

Artist

Budoor Riyami is a multi-media artist from Oman. Upon her graduation from Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, she won the Grand Prize at the 13th Asian Art Biennale in 2008 with her innovative work; a video installation entitled “The Peak of Burning”, which was one of the very few artworks employing modern technologies on display at the event. Riyami participated also in The Circle Exhibitions in 2005 and 2007. She works in a range of mediums such as painting and sculpture but currently focuses on photography and video installation. Riyami was another pupil of Sonja’s and a contemporary of Hassan Meer’s. They have collaborated on several occasions in previous decades in exhibitions with the potential to immerse and fill exhibition spaces of all sizes. Together, they have the capacity to make a large impact in Venice, establishing Oman in a regional historical narrative, and making a strong visual impact for a global audience of art.
